JOB DESCRIPTION

The ASIC Engineering Analog Lead will be responsible for ASIC development used in our LiDAR sensor products as well as internal R&D purposes. The ASIC will include photo-sensing elements, timing, PLL, amplifiers, control, general analog, and interact with digital designs. The ASIC Lead will lead analog development and work with ASIC designers who are among the best in their expertise. You also will work with firmware/electrical engineers, optical engineers, and mechanical engineers to achieve highest performance LiDAR in the market. The candidate must be highly motivated to create production quality, market driven ASICs and be able to work independently with minimum guidance.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead analog ASIC development. Plan tasks and guide the team through entire ASIC development phases.
  • Define architecture and design specifications with the larger team and define implementation strategies and tactics to meet aggressive quality and schedule goals.
  • Work closely with architecture, verification, physical implementation stakeholders to provide status, iterative milestones, and make design decisions throughout the development process.
  • Define test and verification strategies..
  • Be responsible for resource planning and allocation to deliver against plan, including schedule and lead the evaluation of design.

Required:  Masters in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.

 

Preferred:  Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or related fields.

 

Experience

Required: 8 years of experience in ASIC engineering in industry.

Skills

Required:  The candidate must have enough knowledge and hands-on skills to lead an analog ASIC engineering team. These skills include:

  • 8+ years of experience in ASIC engineering in industry.
  • Demonstrated success in complete ASIC design cycles resulting in market proven products.
  • Experiences in managing ASIC design projects and teams from architecture definition, block specifications to productization.
  • Experience in supplier/vendor relationships, including, but not limited to, silicon foundries
  • Knowledge of the latest ASIC design and manufacturer trends and techniques
  • Experience in architectural definition for high through-put, densely arrayed ASIC design
  • Behavior modeling of mixed-signal systems
  • Hands on experience in silicon bring up and characterization
  • Experience in IC layout
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following: CMOS Image Sensor, Timing circuits (ADPLL/PLL), Data Converter (ADC/DAC), DC/DC converters
  • Expert knowledge in running simulation tools such as spectre, hspice, verilog-A/AMS, Matlab or System Verilog
  • Deep understanding of complex simulation methodologies such as Monte Carlo, Noise Analysis and Stability analysis
  • Experience in Verification&Validation of ASICs
  • Working knowledge of analog and/or Digital signal processing
  • Proficient with design tools such as ADE and Virtuosso
  • Ability to run and debug with verification tools for LVS/DRC/ERC
  • Experience in requirement management
  • Knowledge of advanced, multi-chip silicon packaging techniques and technologies
  • Proven track record in achieving results in a fast moving, dynamic environment strongly desired

Preferred:  Advanced hardware knowledge and skills are plus:

  • Experience in automotive industry
  • Experience in FMEA
  • Experience in functional safety
  • Familiarity with ISO documentation
  • Experience in arrayed sensor systems a plus
  • Low noise amplifier and readout circuit design a plus
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as perl/python a plus
