SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 6, 2018–Quanergy Systems, Inc., the leading provider of LiDAR sensors and smart sensing solutions, today announced the appointment of Rick Arnold as the company’s general counsel. With a background of over two decades spent practicing law in Silicon Valley, Arnold brings a wealth of relevant experience to the growing company. At Quanergy, Arnold will oversee all aspects of Quanergy’s legal activities and policies, and provide legal counsel across the company’s global business functions.
Arnold joins at an exciting time for Quanergy, following a year in which the company announced its Qortex perception software, several high profile partnerships with companies including Jaguar and Cisco, and the opening of a brand new manufacturing facility in Sunnyvale, CA. As Quanergy continues to lead the industry with its solid state LiDAR and expand its presence across a wide variety of industries, Arnold will work closely with the rest of the Quanergy leadership team to expand on this momentum.
“Rick’s deep experience in the tech industry will be an invaluable asset to Quanergy as our business continues to mature,” said Dr. Louay Eldada, CEO of Quanergy. “The coming years will be immensely important for LiDAR and Quanergy alike, and Rick will play an instrumental role in the strategic execution of our goals.”
Prior to joining Quanergy, Arnold was the general counsel and secretary at Silver SpringNetworks, Inc. (NYSE: SSNI), where he led a team of twelve professionals, including seven attorneys, and guided the company through its merger with Itron, Inc. (Nasdaq: ITRI). He previously served as the vice president and associate general counsel for mergers and acquisitions at Hewlett-Packard. He is a member of the State Bar of California and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the United States Military Academy, and Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Duke University.
“Quanergy’s world-class technology and passion for innovation has driven their success and this is a company with an exciting future,” said Rick Arnold, general counsel of Quanergy. “Working in Silicon Valley for two decades, I am well aware of the necessary ingredients for a successful company, and I’m convinced Quanergy will continue to grow and evolve. I’m excited to work with Louay and the executive team to capitalize on the massive opportunities that lie ahead.”
Arnold is one of several recent executive additions to the company’s leadership including Mike Healy as chief financial officer, Jeroen Floor as vice president of software engineering and Patrick Archambault as vice president of finance.
