A large municipality in California was experiencing a large number of missed alarms in its underground railroad areas due to the complexity of the environment and challenging terrain/lighting. No alarms were raised when people went on the train tracks which could lead to fatalities This was proving to be a very costly liability issue and traditional surveillance systems could not even come close to addressing this challenge.

A solution  that combines Quanergy’s long-range 3D LiDAR sensors with advanced perception software, Q-track, was deployed over a very diverse environment consisting of a large number of occlusions and uneven lighting, enabled hyper accurate detection and tracking of people in all areas, and most importantly train tracks, thus preventing potentially fatal accidents.

Outcome

Quanergy’s solution was the only one that resulted in 100% accurate detection of pedestrians on train tracks. Other solutions failed due to the high number of occlusions and non ideal lighting conditions.
