The challenge

Every parcel, pallet and trailer has a size that matters

Shipping cost, slotting and load planning all depend on dimensions and volume. Measuring by hand is slow, and 2D cameras cannot see depth.

3D Object Dimensioning. Quanergy 3D LiDAR is well suited to measuring an object’s dimensions. With its high performance and low noise point cloud, the detection of object dimensions becomes easy and precise, including objects with low reflectivity. A wide field of view helps limit the need to mount the sensor far away or cover a large area for bigger objects.

Volumetric Measurement. Is it full? Track how much volume is in a box. With a high performance, low noise point cloud, the detection of volume becomes easy and precise for a wide range of volumetric applications.

How it works

Capture. Measure. Count. Deliver.

Quanergy LiDAR processes its point cloud at the edge, so your host system receives measurements, not raw data.

  1. 1

    Capture

3D LiDAR captures a dense, low-noise point cloud of every object.

  2. 2

    Measure

Edge processing turns the point cloud into dimensions and volume.

  3. 3

    Count

Items are counted and measured as they pass on the line.

  4. 4

    Deliver

Results go to your host application or process control system.

FAQ

3D LiDAR for material handling: common questions

How is 3D LiDAR used in material handling and warehouses?

Quanergy 3D LiDAR measures object dimensions and volume, counts items on conveyors, detects pallets and shelves, and monitors zones around robot cells.

Can LiDAR dimension parcels on a moving conveyor?

Yes. Quanergy 3D LiDAR measures with a low-noise point cloud in real time, so it dimensions parcels as they move.

How large an object can one sensor cover?

A wide field of view limits the need to mount the sensor far away or cover a large area for bigger objects.

Can it count boxes on a conveyor?

Yes. Real-time 3D perception counts and measures boxes as they pass on the line.

Can it measure how full a container or trailer is?

Yes. Volumetric measurement tracks how much volume is used in a box, bin, container or trailer.

How does it connect to our systems?

Our team supports integration with your host application, warehouse management and process control systems.
